This seminar presents a series of short demonstrations of tools and procedures to help streamline and optimize the use of SHARCNET resources. Topics will include: (1) The description of scheduler backfilling and related strategies for queue wait time reduction based on job resource requests. (2) The estimation of job wait times using tools to monitor the system queues. (3) Intuitive and interactive folder/file management and transfers using sshfs to mount remote drives and Meld to display and edit folder/file comparisons. (4) Flexible folder/file archiving using DAR instead of TAR.
